Carlo Gavazzi RG solid state compact switches - The initial 17.5 mm solid state switches

Carlo Gavazzi has developed the very first solid-state relays and contactors to fit the 17.5 mm wide housings for DIN-rail and panel mounting. The RG series devices can replace relays and contactors that already exist, also decreasing parts numbers.

The new devices by Carlo Gavazzi have shown to increase electrical and mechanical performance in the following areas: longevity, transient voltage protection, vibration resistance and heat sink mounting.

Finder’s new relays offer output circuit protection

Finder have released their new 6.2mm relay interface modules, they have the option of replaceable fuses to protect the output circuits.

The new modules are available with electromechanical or solid state relays, which offer common link supply terminal positions and means the 16 way jumper links can be used.

Turck expands its sensor portfolio with encoders in different styles and types

Turck launches a new comprehensive range of encoders, to offer its customers the ideal complete sensor solution.  Turck now offers magnetic and optical encoders in all categories, from incremental over absolute single turn, absolute multiturn right up to analogue. Turck offers the new encoders in many different sizes. In addition to the standard model with 58mm, there are miniature models of 24mm up to 37mm, as well as models for large hollow shafts with up to 100mm. Thanks to the robust mechanical construction and the compact die cast housing, the Turck encoders are insensitive to change in temperature, jolts and vibrations. The IP rated devices - special models for offshore use are IP69K rated and cover a temperature range of -40 to +105 degrees C

Have you ever wondered what your milk goes through before it arrives at the shop? We all know the milk comes from a cow, but did you know that it is maintained at a chilly 4 degrees C until it reaches the dairy? To make the milk safe to drink a heat treatment process called pasteurisation is necessary.

What is Pasteurisation?

Simply - Pasteurisation is a treatment of heat that kills pathogenic organisms, which can cause fevers or worse. Louis Pasteur discovered in 1862 by heating milk to 63 deg C for 30 minutes, 99.9 % of the bacteria that was present would be destroyed.

On Friday 15th July, Festo presented the SmartBird to a packed audience at the TED Global conference in Edinburgh.

TED is an international non profit organisation dedicated to Ideas Worth Spreading. They televise their two annual conferences on the web free of charge (although attending the conference for 4 days will cost the attendee $6000 per ticket !). As you can imagine the conferences are attended by some of the world’s most influential people.
