 A new addition to the Festo range has been released recently. The innovative CPX extension system for Festos CPX automation platform.

This recent addition was optimized for cabinets as well as allowing technicians to separate CPX valve terminals straight into a couple of components therefore reducing expenses by up to thirty percent in comparison to existing alternatives.

Festo CPX extension enables consumers to integrate additional modules more cheaply, particularly when they are created for cabinet applications for example when they are used in the food and drink and process industries. 

Before, customers had been restricted to 10 modules therefore  in the event that more were needed, customers would be required to obtain another CPX with fieldbus node, put in a CPX vertically and use larger control cabinets. 

The Festo  innovative CPX extension, allows technicians to separate the valve terminal straight into 2 horizontal parts which can fit in a regular cabinet, therefore enabling them to reduce both space and expenses when compared to larger specialized cabinets that would normally have been used. Based on the customer’s needs the separation could either be split between the I/O modules or split between the electrical and pneumatic interface of the valve terminal.

Festo extended range also includes particular end plates that can be easily attached with a cable to a maximum of 3m, therefore carrying on with the innovative communication backplane in the 2nd row. Consequently a 2nd communications node is not needed and all CPX characteristics and benefits which can include modularity and diagnostics which are maintained effortlessly within the 2nd row.

Customers could also select the MPA-L and CPX-L modules in IP20 protection class, which along with the CPX extension, is value for money for cabinets.
